Setting up a Custom Domain

When your site is created through Site Builder, the name of your site appears in the URL has http://sitename.activesb.net.  You can use a custom domain your for your website instead so people can visit your site at http://www.sitename.com instead of http://sitename.activesb.net.  Follow these steps to set up a custom domain:

1. Register the domain name

If you already have a registered domain, you can skip this step. Otherwise, the first step is to register a domain, such as SiteName.com, with a registrar of your choice.

Some examples of registrars:

After you have chosen a registrar, you will register your domain name according to the instructions at the registrar’s website. For a detailed list of registrar web sites that you can use to register your domain name, go to ICANN.org.

2. Connect your domain to Site Builder

Note that changes to DNS records can take some time (up to 48 hours) to propagate across the internet.

  1. Log into your domain registrar's site and add/edit the following A records
  2. Edit the A Record for @ and point it to 136.179.1.198
  3. Edit the A Record for www and point it to 136.179.1.198

3. Update the Site URL

Your Site Builder must be configured to use a specific domain, to change the domain is uses, refer to Changing the URL of the site.
